An entry that took a few days to write, saved as draft, and incomplete journal of my after-work travel. (What an incoherent title)
Going back to Manhattan for the second time has made decided that it isn't as fantastic as what movies, shows, books or people make it to be. Maybe it's just not my place. It's a great city. Tall buildings, designer stores, dirty subways, Times Square, blah blah blah, but it just doesn't attract me that much. But what was good about it was the Niagara Falls trip. Alright, it wasn't that good. We joined a chinese company tour that tried to rip us off by bringing us to eat chinese buffet all the time during the tour, and we almost went to a stupid Corning Glass
museum with the tour. Oh, Niagara Falls is the grandest thing I've ever seen. We took a boat ride which brought us very close to the bottom of the falls and it was just breathtaking. Seeing the falls made me feel that this world is so beautiful and if I had a choice, I would want to stand by the falls and get rained by the water all day till my skin wrinkles. And at that point of time as I was getting drenched, I was so thankful my parents sponsored me this trip. =P

The second good thing about this second NY trip was that we met up with Zhiqian's friend who's staying in NY and she brought us to this Nyonya place which has cha kuey teow, hainanese chicken rice, nasi lemak and all sorts of food we can get in Singapore! And she let us bunk in her 6 star hotel for a night cuz her father-in-law had a company-paid room in St Regis. Awesome. The next stop was Boston, which is a really really boring place. Well that's Harvard. And the Quincy Market. The freedom trail which we walked 1% of it before getting distracted by shopping. Urm. Ya. Or maybe we didn't explore the place enough to find Boston interesting. Only spent 3d2n there, but effectively we only had 1 full day to explore. It rained the whole time we were in Boston, so that really sucked. Going to Harvard made Weiyee feel like studying harder. We'll see. Jie, if you're reading this, I got something for you (it's not a tshirt and let me drive your car when I get home).

Las Vegas, is nice. I hated the weather. It's always above 40 degrees and according to Zhiqian, the place is built in the middle of the desert. Which I guess is true. It's the hottest place I've ever been, and hell would probably be as hot as Vegas. The neon-lights of the hotels and casinos light up the las vegas strip at night and there's always something to do there 24/7 i.e. gambling. There're lots of shows which includes concerts, dances, musicals, adult etc etc, but they all ain't cheap. Our first 3 nights were spent in the cheapest hotel we could find on the LV Strip, and our last night, we paid about a 100usd for a room in Treasure Island, which is a 5 star hotel (??) which a huge casino. ZQ wasn't too happy about staying in the cheap hotel at first but we later realize 2 good things about staying there: 1. the $1.99 breakfast is really good. 2. the minimum bet for blackjack is $3, which is about the lowest bet you can find cuz the bigger casinos have higer minimum bets, like $10. Treasure Island was great, I loved the room. Can't compare it to the room at St Regis in NY, but it was the best hotel room we've paid for in US. Definitely worth the money.
Went to Grand Canyon too. But I don't have time to upload the photos.
I wrote this entry for a few days and didn't manage to upload it. It's now my last night in USA, everyone's waiting to use the laptop so I'm just posting whatever I saved as draft.
Bye. Taipei, here I come.
Our rented Chrysler wagon on our 2nd day to the beach. It was an hour drive from our hotel to Daytona beach. The beach is even nicer than Virginia beach. We could drive and park right on the beach.
We were damn lucky to see the space shuttle Discovery launching. That's the remnant smoke. I took a video of the shuttle heading to space and finally disappearing. It was a once in a lifetime experience. It is not everyday that one sees a shuttle launch. =)
We went to Magic Kingdom on the 3rd day. The castle is much more magnificent than what the fairy tales describe it to be.
A lot of disney character mascots have to stand in various position in the parks for visitors to take photos with but Mickey Mouse has a air-conditioned hut of its own. Well, it is after all the mouse that started it all.
I wished Cinderella was prettier.
The parade in the day. The cars were all globes with the disney characters inside.
The parade at night. The lights are so beautiful. That's Cinderella in her pumpkin carriage. Seeing the parade makes me want to watch Rag. But of course the parades are 100x nicer than Rag.
